Mark-Vu skin analysis in Seoul

Before choosing a device, we look closely at your skin. Mark-Vu imaging analyses pores, pigment, wrinkles, redness and oil–moisture balance, giving your doctor a clear picture to plan from.

What Mark-Vu skin analysis is

Mark-Vu is a skin imaging system that photographs and analyses the face in detail. It looks at five things that are hard to judge accurately in a mirror: pores, pigment, wrinkles, redness and oil–moisture balance . The images show patterns beneath what you see day to day — for example pigment that has not yet surfaced clearly, or redness spread across an area that looks only mildly pink in ordinary light.

At Obliv, analysis is not a sales tool or a stand-alone product. It is part of how we diagnose. Our doctors use it alongside a hands-on examination to understand what is happening in your skin before deciding on any treatment.

Why diagnosis comes before the device

Our approach is built on an 8-layer Skin Architecture model: epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone. The same visible concern can start in different layers. Dullness may be a surface turnover issue or a sign of dehydration lower down; pores can reflect oil activity or loose support in the dermis; pigment can sit near the surface or deeper. Treating the wrong layer wastes time and can irritate the skin.

So our order is always the same: diagnose which layer the concern starts in, decide the depth, then choose the device . Mark-Vu imaging helps with the first two steps, especially for the upper layers where pigment, redness, pores and texture live.

What the analysis shows

  • Pores: size and distribution, helping separate oil-driven pores from those linked to loss of support
  • Pigment: spots, patches and uneven tone, including areas not yet obvious to the eye
  • Wrinkles: fine lines and deeper creases, useful for tracking change over time
  • Redness: areas of flushing or sensitivity that may affect which treatments are suitable
  • Oil–moisture balance: whether the skin is oily, dehydrated or both, which guides barrier and home care

What happens at your visit

You arrive with a clean face — or cleanse at the clinic — and sit for the imaging, which is quick and non-invasive. A director then reviews the results with you, explains what the images show and examines your skin directly. Together you discuss your goals, how long you are in Seoul and how much downtime you can accept.

Your images and the treatment plan are stored in your Skin Library , our digital record of every treatment. That means each later session can be compared with the starting point, and any doctor seeing you has the full history.

How the results shape your plan

Analysis often changes the order of treatment rather than just the choice of device. If redness or a weak barrier shows up, we usually reinforce the barrier with ceramides and hyaluronic acid first, as in our barrier reinforcement care . Pigment findings may point towards the Melasma Program or a pico laser; pore and texture findings towards the Pore Refining Program . Oil–moisture results guide your pH-5.5 prescribed home care .

Tracking progress

Many skin treatments work over weeks, following the roughly 28-day renewal cycle of the skin. Change can be gradual and easy to miss. Repeating the imaging at later visits gives you and your doctor an objective comparison rather than relying on memory. Results vary from person to person, and imaging helps keep expectations realistic.

For international visitors

Analysis is usually part of your first consultation, so it fits easily into a short trip. If you plan to continue treatment on later visits to Seoul, your Skin Library record means we can pick up where you left off. Questions about Mark-Vu analysis

  • Does skin analysis hurt or need recovery?

No. Mark-Vu is a photographic analysis, so there is no contact beyond positioning your face, and no downtime. You can carry on with your day straight away.

  • Should I come without make-up?

Yes, ideally. Make-up and sunscreen can affect how pigment, redness and oil appear in the images. If you arrive wearing make-up, you can cleanse at the clinic before imaging.

  • Does the analysis decide my treatment by itself?

No. The images support the doctor's judgement rather than replace it. A director also examines your skin and discusses your goals, timing and downtime before recommending a plan.

  • Can I use my results at my next visit?

Yes. Your images and treatment details are stored in your Skin Library, so future sessions can be compared with your starting point, even if you return to Seoul months later.
