What Ultherapy PRIME is and how it works
Ultherapy PRIME is a HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) lifting treatment. Instead of heating the surface, it focuses ultrasound energy to a precise point beneath the skin, where it creates small zones of heat of around 65–70°C. This controlled heat causes an immediate contraction of tissue and starts a healing response in which the body produces new collagen over the following months.
What sets Ultherapy PRIME apart is its multi-depth approach. Energy can be delivered at 1.5 mm, 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm, so the doctor can treat several layers in one session — the deep support layer, the dermis and the more superficial skin. That is why we regard it as the benchmark for deeper sagging.
Which layers it targets and who it suits
In our 8-layer Skin Architecture model, sagging often begins below the skin, in the fascia (including the SMAS) and the support tissue, before it shows on the surface. Ultherapy PRIME reaches down to this level at 4.5 mm, while the shallower depths address the lower dermis and upper dermis .
It may suit you if you have:
- early to moderate sagging skin along the cheeks and jaw;
- jowls or a blurred jawline ;
- a drooping midface or heavier lower face;
- loss of definition under the chin or along the neck.
What happens on the day
- Consultation and mapping. A director examines your face and decides which areas and depths to treat. If you wish, Mark-Vu imaging records your skin at the start.
- Preparation. Your skin is cleansed and the treatment areas are marked.
- Treatment. The doctor moves the handpiece across each area, delivering energy at the planned depths. You may feel warmth and brief deep prickling or aching, especially over bony areas; sensation varies from person to person.
- Aftercare. The skin is calmed and protected, and you receive aftercare guidance. Every session is recorded in your Skin Library.
Downtime, results and how long they last
Most people return to normal activities straight away. Mild redness, swelling or tenderness can occur and usually settles within days. Many people notice a slight pulling sensation and some immediate tightening. Visible change usually builds over 1–3 months, with final results at around 3–6 months as new collagen forms. Results may last roughly 12–18 months, and vary from person to person.

Is it right for me?
If your main concern is lost volume rather than sagging, filler or collagen stimulators may come first. If you are sensitive to discomfort, CoolSoniq offers a gentler HIFU experience with cooling. For very thin faces, the doctor may adjust the plan to avoid unwanted volume loss. Your director will explain the right option at consultation.
