What happens at your consultation

Your first appointment is where your plan is made. Here is what happens, step by step, from arrival to agreeing what comes next.

Why the consultation matters

At Obliv, the consultation is not a sales conversation; it is where the important decisions are made. We work with a model we call 8-layer Skin Architecture: the skin and the structures beneath it are made of layers — epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone — and each concern starts somewhere specific. The consultation is how we find where, so that we decide the depth first and then the device. Getting this right is the difference between a plan that suits you and one that simply uses whatever is popular.

Before you arrive

  • Message us on WhatsApp with your concerns, travel dates and a few clear daylight photos.
  • Note any medicines, allergies, skin conditions and recent treatments.
  • If you can, arrive without heavy make-up so your skin can be assessed easily.
  • Bring your passport and allow enough time — if treatment follows the same day, the visit will be longer.

Step by step on the day

1. Arrival and check-in

The Skin & Body Clinic is on the 1st and 2nd floors of Pagoda Tower, 93 Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jongno-gu. The team will check you in, confirm your details and go through a short health questionnaire. You are welcome to relax in Café Obliv Ansik, our lounge, while you wait.

2. Skin analysis

Mark-Vu imaging captures detailed views of your skin and analyses pores, pigment, wrinkles, redness and oil–moisture balance. These images help show things that are hard to see in a mirror, such as pigment beneath the surface or uneven redness, and they give a baseline for comparing future visits. You can read more in skin diagnosis explained .

3. Meeting a director

A director sees you from the first consultation. The doctor will ask what bothers you most, look closely at your skin and facial structure, review your imaging and explain which layer your concern appears to start in. This is the time to share what you hope to achieve, any worries about pain or downtime, and how long you are in Seoul.

4. Your plan, explained

The doctor will suggest a plan and explain:

  • Which treatment or combination is recommended, and why
  • The order of treatments, if more than one is involved
  • What it feels like, likely downtime and when results usually appear
  • Possible side effects and aftercare
  • Whether it fits your travel dates, or whether part of it is better saved for another visit

The total cost is confirmed with you before anything starts. If the plan differs from what you discussed online, the doctor will explain why.

5. Deciding

You can go ahead, choose a smaller first step or take time to think. There is no obligation to have treatment on the day.

6. Treatment, if suitable

Many treatments can follow the same day. We reinforce the skin barrier with ingredients such as ceramides and hyaluronic acid before main treatments and protect it afterwards. You will leave with aftercare instructions and prescribed, pH-5.5-matched home care where appropriate, and your treatment is recorded in your Skin Library.

Questions worth asking

  • Which layer is my concern coming from?
  • What would you recommend if I had more time — or less?
  • What should I avoid before my flight?
  • How will I know if my skin is responding normally?
  • When would it make sense to come back?

Results vary from person to person, and a good consultation will give you a realistic picture rather than a promise.

After the consultation

Whether or not you have treatment that day, you leave with a clearer picture of your skin. Your Mark-Vu images and the doctor's notes are kept in your Skin Library, so if you return on a later trip the team can compare how your skin has changed and continue the plan rather than start again.

If you decided to think things over, you can message us on WhatsApp in English with follow-up questions and book treatment for another day of your stay. If you did have treatment, keep your aftercare instructions handy and contact us if anything feels unusual. For what to plan before you fly home, see aftercare before flying and follow-up from abroad .

Questions about your consultation

  • Do I have to have treatment on the same day?

No. Same-day treatment is often possible, but you are free to take time to think, choose a smaller first step or decide not to go ahead.

  • Should I wear make-up to the consultation?

It is easier to assess your skin without heavy make-up. If you are wearing it, the team can help you cleanse before your skin analysis.

  • Can I bring a friend or partner?

Yes, you are welcome to bring someone with you. Let us know when booking if they would also like a consultation.

  • What if my plan is different from the online quote?

An online quote is a starting point. After examining you, the doctor may recommend something different and will explain why and how the cost changes before anything is done.
