Dermatologist consultation in Seoul
At Obliv a director sees you from your very first consultation. We diagnose which skin layer your concern starts in, decide the depth, and only then choose a treatment.
What the consultation is
Every treatment journey at Obliv begins with a consultation. It is where we work out what is really happening in your skin, what you would like to achieve and what fits your schedule and comfort with downtime. You are seen by one of our directors from the first visit — not passed to a coordinator before meeting a doctor.
Our medical team is led by Park Young-jin (Chief Director) and Yang Myeong-hyeon (Dermatology Chief Director), with Kim Yun-gi (Education Director) and Directors Park Hyun-soo, Lee Jong-hyeok, Shim Ho-yeon and Oh Ye-bin. You can read more on our About page .
Our approach: diagnose the layer first
We use an 8-layer Skin Architecture model: epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone . The same visible concern can begin in different layers. Sagging may come from loose skin, descending fat or changes in deeper support; pigment can sit near the surface or deeper; pores may reflect oil or loss of collagen support. Choosing a device before understanding the layer is a common reason treatments disappoint.
So our consultation follows a fixed order: identify the layer where the concern starts, decide the treatment depth, then choose the device or programme .
What happens during your consultation
- Your goals and history. The director asks what bothers you, what you have tried, any medical conditions, medicines and allergies, and how long you are in Seoul.
- Skin analysis. Mark-Vu imaging analyses pores, pigment, wrinkles, redness and oil–moisture balance.
- Examination. The director examines your skin and facial structure directly, looking at how layers have changed.
- A clear plan. You receive a recommendation explaining which programmes or treatments suit you, in what order, how many sessions are likely and what downtime to expect.
Everything is recorded in your Skin Library , a digital record of every treatment, so future visits can build on today's findings.
When we may suggest something else
A good consultation sometimes ends with advice not to treat yet. If your barrier is weak, we may recommend barrier reinforcement first. If a mole or lesion looks unusual, it is assessed and referred for proper medical evaluation where needed. If a condition such as rosacea or acne needs medical management, the doctor will explain that. Honest advice comes before any procedure.
Common topics people bring
- Pigment and melasma — see the Melasma Program
- Sagging, contour and lifting — energy devices, threads or filler
- Pores, acne and scars — Skin Renewal programmes
- Volume loss and natural-looking ageing
- Planning several treatments within one trip
After the consultation
Many treatments can be done on the same day as the consultation if you and the doctor agree it is appropriate. For more involved plans, we will suggest a schedule that fits your stay. You also receive pH-5.5-matched prescribed home care guidance where relevant. Results of any treatment vary from person to person.
For international visitors
Consultations are available in English via our team, and you can send photos and questions on WhatsApp beforehand to help us prepare. Clinic hours for skin and body are Monday to Friday 10:00–21:00 and Saturday to Sunday 10:00–19:00. Relax in Café Obliv Ansik before or after your visit.
How to prepare
You do not need to know treatment names to have a useful consultation, but a little preparation helps the director give you a clearer plan:
- Come with clean skin if possible, so Mark-Vu imaging and the examination reflect your skin as it is.
- Bring a list of medicines, supplements and allergies, plus any treatments you have had in the past year with rough dates.
- Think about priorities. If you have several concerns, decide which matters most to you — the doctor will explain what can sensibly be done in one trip.
- Know your dates. Your departure date affects which treatments are realistic, especially those with downtime.
- Write down questions in advance so nothing is forgotten in the moment.
If you would like to share photos and goals before you arrive, see our WhatsApp pre-consultation guide.

Questions about consultations
Will I see a doctor or a coordinator?
You see a director from your first consultation. Our team also helps with booking, English communication and practical questions before and after your visit.
Can I have treatment on the same day?
Often, yes, if the doctor agrees it is appropriate for your skin. For more involved plans, the doctor may suggest preparing the skin first or scheduling treatments across your stay.
What should I bring?
Bring a list of any medicines, allergies and previous treatments, and come without heavy make-up if possible so the skin analysis is accurate. Photos of how your concern has changed over time can also help.
How much does a consultation and treatment cost?
Costs depend on your plan. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote, and the doctor will confirm the details at consultation.
