What CoolSoniq is and how it works

CoolSoniq is a HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) lifting device. Like other HIFU systems, it focuses ultrasound energy to a precise point beneath the skin rather than heating the whole surface. At that point the tissue reaches roughly 65–70°C, creating tiny zones of controlled heat. The skin responds by contracting the treated tissue straight away and then gradually producing new collagen over the following months.

What sets CoolSoniq apart is that it works at a depth of 4.5 mm and combines the energy with cooling of the skin surface. The cooling is designed to make the session gentler, which is why many people who find conventional HIFU uncomfortable feel more at ease with it.

Which layer it targets and who it suits

In our 8-layer Skin Architecture model, the 4.5 mm depth reaches below the dermis towards the fascia — the firm support layer that holds the face up. When this layer loosens, the lower face, jawline and the area under the chin tend to lose definition. Because CoolSoniq works at this depth, it is mainly considered for:

  • Early to moderate sagging of the lower face and jawline
  • A softening jawline or heaviness under the chin
  • People who want a deeper lift but are concerned about discomfort
  • Those who have tried HIFU before and want a more comfortable experience

If your main concern is surface texture or crepey skin rather than deep laxity, a device that works closer to the surface — such as Sofwave or ALLTITE — may be more suitable. For more advanced, multi-depth sagging, the doctor may suggest Ultherapy PRIME instead.

What happens on the day

Your visit begins with a director consultation. Mark-Vu imaging can help record the condition of your skin, and every treatment is logged in your Skin Library so future plans build on what was done before. The doctor marks the treatment areas, decides how much energy each zone needs and explains what you will feel.

After cleansing, a gel is applied and the handpiece is moved across the face in lines. You may feel warmth and brief deep pulses, with the cooling softening the sensation. Pain perception varies from person to person, but CoolSoniq is generally regarded as one of the more comfortable HIFU options. Barrier-protecting care is applied afterwards.

Downtime, results and how long they last

Most people return to normal activities the same day. Mild redness or a sense of tightness can occur and usually settles quickly; some tenderness when touching the jaw area is possible for a short time.

Is it right for me?

CoolSoniq is a non-surgical option and cannot replicate a surgical facelift. If sagging is very advanced, volume loss is the main issue, or your skin is mainly lax at the surface, we may suggest a different approach — such as filler, threads or a different energy device. Pregnancy, certain medical conditions and recent procedures in the area are discussed at consultation before anything is planned.
