PCL Collagen Stimulator in Seoul

PCL injections encourage your skin to rebuild its own collagen, so firmness and skin quality improve gradually over the following months rather than all at once.

What a PCL collagen stimulator is and how it works

PCL (polycaprolactone) is a collagen-stimulating injectable. Rather than simply filling a space, it works by prompting your skin to make more of its own collagen. Once injected, PCL triggers a controlled foreign-body response: the skin recognises the material and activates fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen. Over the following weeks and months, new collagen forms while the PCL itself gradually dissolves.

This matters because collagen naturally declines with age — roughly 1% a year from around the age of 20, faster after menopause, and further broken down by UV exposure. As collagen falls, skin becomes thinner, less firm and more prone to fine lines and crepiness. A collagen stimulator addresses the cause of that change rather than just disguising its effects.

Which layer it targets and who it suits

Our doctors plan treatment using an 8-layer Skin Architecture model — epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone. Collagen stimulators work mainly in the dermis, where collagen gives skin its structure and bounce. The doctor decides depth and placement first, then the product.

PCL may suit you if you notice:

  • Skin that feels thinner or less firm than it used to
  • Early sagging or a gradual loss of contour
  • Crepey texture on the cheeks, jawline or neck
  • A wish for subtle, gradual improvement rather than an instant change

As a general guide, people in their 20s often focus on prevention, those in their 30s on maintenance, and those in their 40s and beyond on recovery — usually combining energy-based treatment, collagen stimulation and volume. See loss of elasticity and thinning skin .

What happens on the day

Your consultation is with a director from the very first visit. They assess your skin, may use Mark-Vu imaging to review its condition, and explain where collagen support would help most. The plan is saved in your Skin Library.

On the day, the skin is cleansed, the doctor discusses comfort options, and PCL is injected at the planned depth. The doctor may massage the area afterwards to help even distribution.

Downtime, results and how long they last

Temporary swelling, bruising or a slightly lumpy feeling are possible in the first days and usually settle. Because the effect depends on your own collagen, results build gradually:

  • Changes typically start to show around 1–3 months
  • The effect tends to peak around 3–6 months
  • Results typically last around 12–24 months

Results vary from person to person. Follow your doctor’s aftercare advice, including any instructions about massage.

Often combined with

PCL combines well with energy lifting. Devices such as Ultherapy PRIME or Thermage FLX tighten the deeper layers, while PCL supports the dermis — see our Energy Lifting + Collagen Stimulator programme. Thread lifts and fillers can also be added where lift or volume is needed.

Is it right for me?

PCL is a good fit if you want gradual, natural-looking improvement and can wait for collagen to build. If you need visible volume immediately, filler may be a better first step, and if your skin mainly needs hydration, a skin booster may be more suitable. Please mention medical conditions, autoimmune disorders, pregnancy, or previous injectables at consultation.

For international visitors

PCL fits well into a short trip because the treatment itself is quick and the results develop after you return home. The clinic is about 5 minutes on foot from Jonggak and Euljiro 1-ga stations, close to Myeongdong, and you can plan your visit in English on WhatsApp.

How PCL compares with similar options

PCL is one of two collagen-stimulating injectables we use. Both work by prompting your own collagen production rather than filling a space, and both dissolve over time, but the doctor may prefer one or the other depending on the area, your skin and the effect you want. Our PLLA collagen stimulator page explains the alternative.

  • Versus HA filler: filler gives visible volume straight away, while PCL builds firmness gradually over months
  • Versus skin boosters: boosters focus on hydration and skin quality and usually need more frequent top-ups
  • Versus energy lifting: devices tighten with heat at set depths; PCL supports the dermis from within, which is why the two are often paired

Your doctor will explain which approach, or combination, suits your goals at consultation.

PCL collagen stimulator: common questions

  • Is PCL the same as filler?

No. Filler adds volume directly, while PCL works mainly by stimulating your own collagen and then dissolving. The change is more gradual and develops over months.

  • How is PCL different from PLLA?

Both are collagen stimulators that trigger fibroblasts to make new collagen and then dissolve. The doctor chooses between them based on your skin, the area and your goals, and will explain the reasoning at consultation.

  • Are there side effects?

Temporary swelling, bruising or a slightly lumpy feeling can occur and usually settle. Your doctor will go through possible risks and aftercare before treatment.

  • How much does it cost?

The amount needed depends on the areas treated and your skin. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.
