OLIGIO HIFU deep lifting in Seoul

OLIGIO HIFU focuses ultrasound energy deep enough to reach the SMAS, the support layer that holds the face up. We use it when sagging begins below the skin, not just in it.

What OLIGIO HIFU is and how it works

OLIGIO HIFU is a high-intensity focused ultrasound device. Instead of warming the skin from the surface, it gathers ultrasound energy into a small point at a chosen depth. At that point the tissue is heated to roughly 65–70°C, forming tiny zones of controlled heat. The tissue contracts in response, and over the following months the body lays down new collagen around each treated point.

The defining feature of OLIGIO HIFU is that it is designed to reach deep — down to the SMAS (superficial musculo-aponeurotic system), the fibrous sheet that surgeons lift during a facelift. Treating this layer non-surgically can help firm the framework of the lower face from underneath.

Which layer it targets and who it suits

Our 8-layer Skin Architecture model separates the face into epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone. The SMAS sits in the fascia layer. When it loosens, the cheeks start to descend, jowls form and the jawline blurs, even if the skin surface still looks reasonably healthy.

OLIGIO HIFU is mainly considered for:

  • Sagging along the jawline and early jowls
  • Loss of lift in the lower and mid face
  • A heavier look around the mouth and chin
  • People who want a deep structural lift without surgery

If the problem is mostly in the dermis — fine crepiness, a loss of firmness or texture — an RF device such as OLIGIO X or Thermage FLX may suit better. Where the concern is volume loss rather than laxity, filler or a collagen stimulator may be the more logical starting point.

What happens on the day

A director sees you from the first consultation. We look at where your sagging starts, using clinical examination and Mark-Vu imaging to record your baseline, and every session is stored in your Skin Library. The doctor decides depth first, then device — so OLIGIO HIFU is only chosen when the deep support layer is the main target.

On the day, the skin is cleansed, a gel is applied and the handpiece is passed across each area in lines. You may feel warmth and deep, brief pulses, especially over bony areas such as the jawline. Discomfort varies between people; the doctor can adjust the treatment and will explain the options. Barrier-protecting care is applied afterwards.

Downtime, results and how long they last

Most people go back to their day straight away. Mild redness, slight swelling or tenderness along the jaw can occur and usually settles within a short time.

  • Immediately: a pulling, tighter feeling
  • 1–3 months: lift and definition become more noticeable
  • 3–6 months: final result as collagen matures
  • Duration: HIFU results typically last around 12–18 months

Results vary from person to person and depend on age, skin thickness and how far sagging has progressed.

Often combined with

Because ageing happens layer by layer, one device rarely covers everything. OLIGIO HIFU is often paired with an RF treatment that tightens the dermis, such as OLIGIO X , so the support layer and the skin above it are both addressed. A PLLA collagen stimulator or skin boosters can be added to support skin quality. The doctor will explain the order and spacing.

Is it right for me?

OLIGIO HIFU is non-surgical and cannot give the same result as a surgical facelift. If sagging is very advanced, if your skin is very thin, or if you are particularly sensitive to discomfort, the doctor may suggest a gentler option such as CoolSoniq , or a multi-depth plan with Ultherapy PRIME . Health conditions, pregnancy and recent procedures are reviewed before treatment.

For international visitors

With little downtime, OLIGIO HIFU fits well into a short stay. Consultation and treatment can usually happen on the same visit. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and a few photos, and ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.

Preparing for your visit

  • Tell the doctor about any recent filler, threads or energy treatments in the lower face.
  • Share your medical history, implants and medications at consultation.
  • Bring a photo from a few years ago if you would like to show how your jawline has changed.
  • Plan sun protection afterwards and follow the barrier care you are given.

Questions about OLIGIO HIFU

  • What is the SMAS and why does it matter?

The SMAS is a fibrous support layer beneath the skin and fat that helps hold the face in position. When it loosens, the cheeks and jawline start to descend. OLIGIO HIFU is designed to reach this layer, which is why it is used for deeper sagging.

  • How is OLIGIO HIFU different from OLIGIO X?

OLIGIO HIFU uses focused ultrasound to reach the deep support layer, while OLIGIO X uses radiofrequency to heat the lower dermis evenly and remodel collagen. They work at different depths and are often combined.

  • Does it hurt?

Most people feel warmth and short deep pulses, particularly over the jawline. Sensitivity varies from person to person, and the doctor can adjust the treatment or suggest a more comfortable device if needed.

  • How long do results last?

HIFU results typically last around 12–18 months, with the final effect visible at about 3–6 months. Many people plan a repeat session to maintain the lift.
