A sharper jawline in Seoul

A clean jawline is rarely about one thing. Muscle, fat, skin laxity and the chin all shape the lower face, so at Obliv we find which layer is blurring yours before choosing how to define it.

What a sharper jawline really means

When people ask for a sharper jawline, they usually mean a clearer line from the ear to the chin, with less softness underneath and a lower face that looks lighter and more defined. The cause of a blurred jawline differs from person to person. For some it is a strong chewing muscle that widens the angle of the jaw. For others it is a little extra fat under the chin or along the lower cheeks, skin that has started to loosen, or a chin that sits slightly back and makes the line look shorter. Most people have a mix of two or three of these.

That is why there is no single "jawline treatment". The goal is a definition that suits your face, not a shape copied from someone else.

Which layers are involved

Our 8-layer Skin Architecture model helps us separate the possible causes:

  • Muscle: an overactive masseter (the chewing muscle) can make the lower face look square and wide.
  • Subcutaneous fat: localised fat under the chin or below the cheeks softens the edge of the jaw.
  • Dermis and fascia: as collagen falls and support loosens, skin begins to drape over the jawline and jowls start to form.
  • Bone and deep support: a recessed chin or lost structural support can shorten the line from the side.

At consultation a director examines your face from the front and in profile, and Mark-Vu imaging can add information about the skin itself. From there we decide the depth first and the device second.

Building a plan

A jawline plan usually combines programmes in a sensible order, starting with the layer that is contributing most.

  • Relaxing the muscle. Jawline (masseter) Botox relaxes an overactive chewing muscle so the lower face can look slimmer from the front. It starts to work within 3–7 days, peaks at around two weeks and typically lasts about 4–6 months.
  • Reducing localised fat. Onda uses microwave energy to selectively heat fat under the chin and below the cheeks, which can help where fullness hides the jaw edge.
  • Tightening and lifting. HIFU such as Ultherapy PRIME or OLIGIO HIFU delivers focused ultrasound to points at depth, down to the SMAS layer. RF devices such as Thermage heat the dermis evenly for overall tightening. HIFU results commonly last around 12–18 months and RF around 6–12 months.
  • Structure and shape. Chin filler can bring a recessed chin forward so the jawline reads longer and cleaner. Thread lifts such as MINT Lift can reposition loosened tissue along the jaw.

When structure is part of the picture, we follow a dual-plane order: deep support first, then the fat layer, and muscle last. Many people only need one or two of these steps — your doctor will suggest the smallest plan that addresses what is really going on.

Timeline before a trip or event

If you have a date in mind, timing matters. Botox needs around two weeks to reach its peak, so it is best done at least two to three weeks ahead. Energy lifting gives a pulling sensation straight away, but changes are usually noticeable after one to three months, with the final result at three to six months. Filler and threads give a more immediate change, though some swelling or tenderness can last a few days. For a short stay in Seoul, we can usually combine a consultation and treatment on the same visit and plan any follow-up for your next trip.

Keeping your results

Results vary from person to person and none of these treatments is permanent. Muscle-relaxing treatments are typically repeated every few months, while lifting and collagen-stimulating treatments are refreshed less often. Many patients combine energy lifting with collagen stimulators to support skin quality between sessions. On the day of injections, avoid touching the area for 4–6 hours and skip sauna, alcohol and strenuous exercise. Your Skin Library record keeps every session on file, so the next plan builds on the last one.

Questions about a sharper jawline

  • Is jaw Botox enough on its own?

It can be, if a strong chewing muscle is the main reason your lower face looks wide. If fat under the chin or loose skin is also blurring the line, Botox alone may not give the definition you want. Your doctor will explain which layers are involved before suggesting anything.

  • How soon will I see a difference?

Botox starts working within 3–7 days and peaks at about two weeks. Filler and threads change the shape more immediately, while energy lifting builds gradually over one to three months, with final results at three to six months. Results vary from person to person.

  • Can I combine several jawline treatments in one visit?

Often, yes. Many plans pair a lifting device with Botox or filler, but the order and spacing depend on your skin and which areas are treated. The doctor will confirm what is safe to combine on the same day.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost depends on which treatments your plan includes and how many areas are treated. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote, ideally with a few clear photos of your face from the front and side.
