MCT in Seoul
MCT is an epidermal-layer treatment we use for skin texture and scar care. Your doctor explains exactly how it works and whether it suits you at consultation.
What MCT is
MCT is one of the treatments on Obliv Clinic’s menu for concerns that start in the outermost layer of the skin. It is an epidermal-layer treatment used for texture and scar care — helping to refine surfaces that feel rough, look uneven or carry shallow marks. It is not a lifting or volumising treatment.
Because the specifics of technique and settings depend on your skin, we do not try to summarise them in a few lines here. At consultation, your doctor will explain how MCT works, what it involves, and how it compares with the other texture and scar options we offer, including NeoGen plasma , CUREJET , Potenza RF microneedling and U-Pulse fractional CO2 .
Which layer it targets and who it suits
Our doctors use an 8-layer Skin Architecture model — epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone. The approach is always the same: find the layer where a concern starts, decide the depth of treatment, and only then choose the device or technique. MCT works at the epidermis, so it is best suited to concerns on or near the surface.
MCT may be considered if you have:
- Rough, uneven or bumpy skin texture
- Shallow scars or marks, including some post-acne texture
- Skin that looks less smooth and refined than you would like
When scars are deeper — for example rolling, boxcar or ice-pick acne scars — the doctor usually adds or chooses a deeper-acting treatment. Typically, acne scar plans involve 3–5 sessions of Potenza or CO2, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with surface treatments used alongside where helpful. Read more on acne scars and rough skin texture .
How we decide if MCT is right for you
A director sees you from the first consultation. They examine your skin closely and may use Mark-Vu imaging, which analyses pores, pigment, wrinkles, redness and oil–moisture balance. Together, these help the doctor judge how deep your concern goes. All findings and treatments are recorded in your Skin Library, so progress can be compared over time.
Barrier first, every time
Surface treatments work best on a healthy barrier. Before main treatments we reinforce the barrier with ceramides and HA; afterwards we focus on protecting it. You will go home with pH-5.5-matched prescribed home care, and daily SPF50+ is strongly advised while skin renews.
Sessions, downtime and results
Skin renews on roughly a 28-day cycle, so texture and scar care usually involves a series of sessions rather than one visit. Your doctor will recommend how many and how far apart. What you experience afterwards depends on the settings used, and the doctor will explain this before you start so you can plan around work, events or travel. Results vary from person to person.
Often combined with
MCT may be planned alongside skin boosters or exosome therapy to support recovery, or as part of our Acne Scar Program together with deeper treatments.
Is it right for me?
If your concern starts deeper, or if you have active acne or inflammation, the doctor examines you first and may treat that before any texture work. If you have a history of pigment changes after treatment, recent sun exposure or a medical condition, please mention it at consultation.
For international visitors
Because a course of sessions is usually involved, ask the team when booking how MCT fits your travel dates; the doctor can suggest what to do during your stay and what can wait for a future visit. The clinic is about 5 minutes on foot from Jonggak and Euljiro 1-ga stations, close to Myeongdong, and our team helps in English on WhatsApp.
Aftercare in the first week
Keep cleansing gentle, use your pH-5.5-matched prescribed home care , pause scrubs and strong actives, and apply SPF50+ every day. If anything feels unusual, message the team on WhatsApp.

MCT: common questions
What does MCT treat?
MCT is an epidermal-layer treatment used for skin texture and scar care. Your doctor will explain at consultation whether it suits your particular concern or whether another option would be better.
Is MCT enough for deep acne scars?
Deeper scars usually need treatments that reach further into the skin, such as Potenza or CO2. Surface treatments like MCT may be used alongside them as part of a combined plan.
How many sessions will I need?
Skin renews on roughly a 28-day cycle, so a series is usually recommended. The number depends on your skin and goals and is set with your doctor.
How much does MCT cost?
It depends on the area and number of sessions. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.
