U-Pulse Fractional CO2 in Seoul

U-Pulse is a fractional CO2 laser used for overall skin regeneration — helping refine texture, soften fine lines and restore a healthier glow.

What U-Pulse is and how it works

U-Pulse is a fractional CO2 laser. “Fractional” means the laser treats the skin in a pattern of tiny columns rather than the whole surface at once, leaving untreated skin in between. Those untreated areas help the skin recover, while the treated columns prompt the skin to renew itself. The aim is overall regeneration: smoother texture, finer-looking pores and lines, and a fresher, more even surface.

At Obliv Clinic, U-Pulse belongs to the texture and glow category of our Skin Renewal programme, alongside Mirajet . It is different from full CO2 laser resurfacing , which is used for deeper scars and needs a longer recovery, and from Potenza RF microneedling , which focuses on pores and acne scars with short downtime.

Which layer it targets and who it suits

Our doctors use an 8-layer Skin Architecture model — epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone. Texture and fine-line concerns usually involve the epidermis and upper dermis. U-Pulse works across these layers to encourage renewal from the surface down.

U-Pulse may suit you if you have:

  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Fine lines and a loss of smoothness
  • Dull skin that lacks clarity and glow
  • Mild textural scarring

What happens on the day

A director sees you from your first consultation. Mark-Vu imaging can analyse pores, pigment, wrinkles, redness and oil–moisture balance, and the doctor uses this to decide whether U-Pulse is the right depth for your concern and how intensive the settings should be. Everything is recorded in your Skin Library.

We follow a barrier-first approach: the skin barrier is reinforced with ceramides and HA before main treatments. The doctor then discusses comfort options and carries out the laser at the planned settings. Barrier protection care follows immediately afterwards.

Downtime, results and aftercare

Recovery depends on the settings used. Redness and a period of skin renewal afterwards are expected with fractional CO2, and your doctor will explain what this will look like for you so you can plan around work, events and travel. Because skin renews on roughly a 28-day cycle, improvements continue to develop after each session, and some people benefit from a series. Results vary from person to person.

  • SPF50+ every day after laser is essential
  • Use only your pH-5.5-matched prescribed home care while skin recovers
  • Avoid picking or scrubbing treated skin

Often combined with

U-Pulse pairs well with exosome therapy or skin boosters to support recovery. For pores and acne scars, Potenza may be used in the same plan, and for deeper scars, full CO2 resurfacing.

Is it right for me?

If your skin is very sensitive, prone to redness, or reacts easily with pigment changes, the doctor may choose a gentler option or prepare the barrier first. If you have active acne, inflammation or a skin condition, a doctor examines you before any laser is planned. Please mention recent sun exposure and any medication.

For international visitors

Because fractional CO2 involves some recovery time, schedule it early in your stay and ask the team when booking how it fits your dates and flights. Sun protection is essential while sightseeing. The clinic is about 5 minutes on foot from Jonggak and Euljiro 1-ga stations, close to Myeongdong, and you can plan in English on WhatsApp.

Aftercare in the first week

The days after fractional CO2 are when careful aftercare makes the most difference. Your doctor will give you instructions matched to the settings used, but the general principles are consistent:

  • Keep the skin clean and moisturised with your prescribed products only; skip actives, scrubs and fragranced products
  • Let any flaking or crusting come away on its own rather than picking it
  • Avoid saunas, swimming pools, heavy exercise and alcohol while the skin is visibly healing
  • Stay out of strong sun, wear a hat outdoors and apply SPF50+ once your doctor says the skin is ready
  • Hold off on make-up until the doctor confirms it is safe

If you are flying home during this period, read our aftercare before flying guide and keep the clinic's WhatsApp contact handy for questions.

U-Pulse fractional CO2: common questions

  • How is U-Pulse different from CO2 resurfacing?

  • How much downtime should I expect?

It depends on the settings. Redness and a period of skin renewal are expected, and the doctor will explain what to plan for before you book.

  • Can I fly after U-Pulse?

Many people can, but it is best to schedule treatment early in your stay and follow aftercare closely. Ask the team about your travel dates when booking.

  • How much does U-Pulse cost?

It depends on the area and number of sessions. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.
