Forehead wrinkle treatment in Seoul

Horizontal forehead lines come from a mix of muscle movement, skin quality and, sometimes, a flatter forehead shape. We work out which matters most for you, so the result looks smoother without looking frozen.

What forehead wrinkles are

Forehead wrinkles are the horizontal lines that run across the forehead, most obvious when you raise your eyebrows. In the early stages they appear only with expression; over time they can remain visible even when the face is relaxed. Some people notice them in their twenties, especially if they are naturally expressive or raise their brows to keep their eyes open when tired. They are one of the most common reasons people book a first aesthetic consultation.

Why they form and which layer is involved

Forehead lines are a good example of why we think in layers. In our 8-layer Skin Architecture model, several layers contribute:

  • Muscle. The forehead muscle lifts the brows. Each contraction folds the skin above it, and repeated folding over years creates lines.
  • Dermis. Collagen declines by roughly 1% a year from about 20, and UV exposure accelerates the loss. Thinner dermis creases more easily and holds on to lines.
  • Epidermis. Dehydration and a weak barrier make lines look sharper and more etched.
  • Bone and fat. Ageing works from the inside out. A flatter or slightly hollow forehead offers less support, so lines can look deeper.

There is also an important subtlety: some people raise their brows to compensate for heavy upper eyelids. Relaxing the forehead too much in these cases can make the brows feel heavy, which is why careful assessment matters.

How Obliv approaches forehead wrinkles

  • Diagnosis first. A director examines your forehead at rest and in movement, checks brow position and how you use the muscle, and Mark-Vu imaging records wrinkles and skin quality.
  • Relaxing movement. Forehead Botox relaxes the overactive muscle so lines soften. The dose and placement are planned to keep natural expression and brow position.
  • Improving skin quality. Skin boosters , Rejuran and barrier care support hydration and regeneration for lines that remain at rest.
  • Restoring support. Where the forehead is flat or hollow, forehead filler may be considered to restore a smoother curve. HA filler typically lasts around 6–18 months.
  • Firming the skin. Energy treatments such as Sofwave work in the upper dermis for texture and firmness, and can complement injections.

What to expect

Botox usually begins to work within 3–7 days, peaks at around 2 weeks and lasts roughly 4–6 months. On the day, avoid touching the area for 4–6 hours and skip sauna, alcohol and strenuous exercise. Boosters and energy treatments build more gradually as the skin responds over weeks. Downtime is usually minimal — small injection marks or mild redness that settles quickly. Lines that have been etched for years may soften rather than disappear, and results vary from person to person.

Caring for your skin between visits

  • Wear SPF50+ daily; the forehead catches a lot of sun.
  • Keep the barrier hydrated with the pH-5.5-matched home care we prescribe.
  • Plan Botox top-ups around when movement starts to return, rather than waiting until lines are fully back.

Visiting from abroad

Forehead treatment fits easily into a short stay. Ideally book Botox early in your trip so you can see it settle before you fly, and ask us about a review if you are in Seoul for two weeks or more. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates.

Avoiding a frozen or heavy look

The most common worry about forehead treatment is looking unnatural. A few principles guide how your doctor plans it:

  • Keep some movement. The aim is to soften lines, not to stop all expression. A small amount of movement usually looks more natural, especially for people who speak expressively.
  • Protect brow position. Because the forehead muscle is the only one that lifts the brows, treating it too strongly or too low can make the brows or eyelids feel heavy. Dosing and placement are adjusted to your brow shape.
  • Treat neighbouring areas together when needed. Forehead lines often appear alongside frown lines between the brows. Balancing both areas helps the upper face look even.
  • Start conservatively. For a first treatment, a lighter approach with a review at around two weeks lets you see how your muscles respond before anything more is added.

Questions about forehead wrinkles

  • Will forehead Botox make my brows drop?

This is why assessment matters. Your doctor checks how you use your forehead and whether you lift your brows to compensate for heavy eyelids, then plans dose and placement to keep a natural brow position.

  • My lines are visible even at rest. Will Botox help?

Botox softens lines caused by movement, but lines that have been etched for years may also need help from skin boosters, regenerative treatments or, where the forehead is flat, filler. Your doctor may suggest a combination.

  • How long does forehead Botox last?

Typically around 4–6 months, though this varies from person to person. Many people plan a top-up when they notice movement returning.

  • Can I fly after forehead Botox?

Most people can travel as normal, but on the day avoid touching the area for 4–6 hours and skip sauna, alcohol and strenuous exercise. Ask your doctor about your specific plans.
