Flat forehead contouring in Seoul

A flat, sloping or uneven forehead changes how light falls across the upper face. We look at the bone, fat and skin beneath it before planning a soft, rounded contour that suits your profile.

What a flat forehead means

In profile, many people's foreheads have a gentle, rounded curve that flows into the brow and nose. When the forehead is flat, slopes backwards, or has small dips and ridges, the upper third of the face can look less soft, and the brows may appear heavier. In Korean aesthetics a smoothly rounded forehead is often associated with a youthful, gentle look, which is why it is a frequent request among visitors to Seoul.

A flat forehead is usually a matter of natural anatomy rather than a medical problem. For some, it becomes more noticeable with age as volume is lost; for others it has always been there. Either way, the goal is a subtle, natural-looking change in proportion, not a dramatically different shape.

Which layers are involved

Our 8-layer Skin Architecture model, from epidermis to bone, helps explain what you are seeing:

  • Bone. The shape of the frontal bone sets the basic curve. It also slowly remodels with age, which can flatten the profile further.
  • Subcutaneous fat. The forehead has relatively little fat. Where it thins, the contour of the bone and any irregularities show more clearly.
  • Muscle. The forehead muscle lifts the brows. Strong habitual movement can create horizontal lines that make a flat surface look uneven.
  • Dermis. Collagen loss — about 1% a year from around 20 — thins the skin and lets underlying shapes show through.

How Obliv approaches a flat forehead

  • Assessment of proportions. A director looks at the forehead in profile and from the front, together with the brows, nose and temples. Sometimes softening sunken temples at the same time gives a more balanced result.
  • Structural support first. Following a dual-plane approach, support is placed close to the bone before the more superficial layers are refined. Forehead filler can help create a smooth, rounded curve. Hyaluronic acid filler typically lasts around 6–18 months; CaHA around 12–18 months and also stimulates collagen.
  • A gradual option. For people who prefer a slower, subtle change, collagen stimulators such as PLLA encourage your own collagen over several months, with results that may last around 12–24 months.
  • Muscle last. If movement lines remain once the contour is restored, forehead Botox may be considered to soften them. Botox starts working in 3–7 days, peaks around 2 weeks and lasts roughly 4–6 months.

What to expect

Filler shows its effect on the day, although mild swelling can make the area look fuller for a few days. Collagen stimulators develop gradually, starting from about 1–3 months, and temporary swelling, bruising or small lumps may occur. Avoid touching the forehead for 4–6 hours after injections and skip saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise that day. Results vary from person to person, and your doctor will discuss realistic expectations before treatment.

Looking after the result

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the forehead in the first days unless your doctor advises it.
  • Use SPF50+ daily to protect collagen from UV damage.
  • Follow the prescribed pH-balanced home care to keep the skin barrier strong.

Visiting from abroad

Forehead filler suits a short stay because results appear quickly; we generally suggest booking early in your trip so any swelling can settle. Send side-profile and front photos with your travel dates on WhatsApp and we will help plan your visit.

Questions to ask at your consultation

Forehead contouring is a very individual treatment, so it helps to arrive with a few questions in mind. Useful ones include:

  • Is my flat forehead mainly about bone shape, thin fat or lines from movement?
  • How much change is realistic for my profile, and how natural will it look from the side?
  • Would treating my temples or brow area at the same time give a more balanced result?
  • Should I choose filler for a quicker change or a collagen stimulator for a gradual one?
  • What should I avoid in the first days, and when can I wear a hat or headband again?

A good consultation should leave you clear on the plan, the order of steps and the aftercare. For practical tips on what happens at the first appointment, see what to expect at consultation , and for a general overview of subtle injectable work, our first aesthetic treatment guide may help.

Questions about a flat forehead

  • Will my forehead look obviously done?

The aim is a soft curve that fits your profile, not a bulging forehead. The doctor plans the amount carefully and may suggest a conservative first session, adding more later if needed.

  • Can forehead filler and Botox be done together?

Sometimes. Contour is usually restored first and movement lines treated afterwards if they remain. Your doctor will decide the order and timing at consultation.

  • Is there much downtime?

Most people go back to normal activities the same day. Mild swelling or bruising can occur, and you should avoid saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise on the day.

  • How long does the result last?

Hyaluronic acid filler usually lasts around 6–18 months, CaHA around 12–18 months, and PLLA collagen stimulation roughly 12–24 months. Results vary from person to person.
