Botox in Seoul
Botox relaxes overactive muscles to soften expression lines and refine facial contour. At Obliv, a doctor plans where and how much to use so your face still looks like you — just more rested.
What Botox is and how it works
Botox is a purified protein injected in very small amounts into specific muscles. It temporarily reduces the signal that tells a muscle to contract, so the muscle relaxes. When a muscle that repeatedly folds the skin is calmer, the lines it creates soften. When a muscle that has become bulky through constant use relaxes, it can gradually become slimmer, changing the contour of that area.
Because it acts on muscle movement, Botox is most useful for dynamic lines — those that appear or deepen when you frown, raise your eyebrows or smile — and for contour concerns driven by muscle, such as a square jaw.
Which layer it targets and who it suits
In our 8-layer Skin Architecture model — epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone — Botox works in the muscle layer. That is why it is chosen when movement is the cause of a concern, and not when the issue is lost volume, thin skin or sagging.
Common uses include:
- Forehead lines from raising the eyebrows
- Frown lines (the "11" lines) between the brows
- Crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes
- Jawline (masseter) Botox to soften a square jaw and support a V-line
- Skin Botox , a finer technique used for skin texture concerns
If a line is already etched into the skin at rest, Botox may soften it but not remove it completely; the doctor may suggest combining it with skin-quality treatments or filler.
What happens on the day
A director sees you from the first consultation. The doctor watches how your face moves — asking you to frown, smile and raise your brows — to understand which muscles are responsible and how strong they are. This matters because the same dose in the wrong place can make a face look flat or heavy. Your plan is recorded in your Skin Library so future sessions can be fine-tuned.
The injections themselves take only a few minutes. A very fine needle is used, and most people feel small, brief pinches. Afterwards, you can usually continue your day.
Downtime, results and how long they last
There is usually little visible downtime. Small bumps at injection points settle quickly, and minor bruising is possible. On the day of treatment, please avoid touching or massaging the area for 4–6 hours, and skip saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise.
- Starts working: about 3–7 days
- Peak effect: around 2 weeks
- Lasts: roughly 4–6 months
Results vary from person to person, depending on muscle strength, metabolism and the area treated.
Often combined with
Botox works on movement, so it pairs naturally with treatments that work on other layers. HA filler can restore volume where it has been lost, skin boosters support hydration and elasticity, and energy-based lifting addresses sagging. Your doctor will explain what makes sense for your face and in which order.
Is it right for me?
Botox suits people whose concerns are driven by muscle movement or muscle bulk. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and certain neuromuscular conditions and medications need to be discussed first. If the main issue is volume loss or laxity, we will suggest a different approach rather than adding more Botox.
For international visitors
Botox is one of the easiest treatments to fit into a short stay in Seoul, and consultation and treatment can usually take place on the same visit. Because the effect peaks around two weeks, booking early in your trip helps if you would like a review before you leave. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.
Preparing for your visit

- Mention when you last had Botox and how long it lasted for you.
- Arrive without heavy make-up on the treatment areas if possible.

Questions about Botox
Will I look frozen?
Not if the dose and placement are planned around how your face moves. Our doctors aim to soften overactive movement while keeping natural expression, and the plan can be adjusted at future visits.
How soon does Botox work?
Most people notice the effect beginning after about 3–7 days, with the peak at around 2 weeks. If you are travelling, booking early in your stay gives the result time to settle.
How long does it last?
Usually around 4–6 months, though this varies from person to person. With regular treatment, some people find they need it less often over time.
What should I avoid after treatment?
Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for 4–6 hours, and skip saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise on the day. Normal daily activities are usually fine.
