Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler in Seoul

HA filler restores volume and support where the face has lost it. At Obliv, we rebuild structure from the deepest layer upwards, so results look like a fresher version of you rather than added fullness.

What HA filler is and how it works

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance found naturally in the skin, where it holds water and helps keep tissue plump and supple. HA filler is a gel form of this substance, injected to restore volume, support or shape in specific areas. Different HA gels have different firmness: firmer gels can provide structure close to the bone, while softer ones blend smoothly into more mobile or delicate areas.

Because HA is gradually broken down by the body, results are temporary, which allows the face to be adjusted over time as it changes.

How ageing changes volume — and why layers matter

Facial ageing happens from the inside out. Bone gradually changes shape, deep fat pads lose volume, the support tissue that holds everything in place weakens, and fat begins to descend. The result is hollowing in some areas and sagging or folds in others. Simply filling a line on the surface often looks heavy, because it doesn't address why the line formed.

In our 8-layer Skin Architecture model — epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone — HA filler can be placed at different depths. Obliv uses a dual-plane approach: first we restore structural support just above the bone , then we refine the fat layer , and we address muscle last. Rebuilding support first often means less product is needed nearer the surface, and the result looks more natural.

Who it suits

HA filler is often considered for:

When firmer, longer-lasting structural support or collagen stimulation is wanted, CaHA filler may be suggested instead. When the main concern is sagging rather than volume loss, energy-based lifting or threads may be a better first step.

What happens on the day

A director sees you from the first consultation. The doctor examines your face at rest and in motion, from the front and in profile, and explains where support has been lost and in what order to restore it. Your plan and the products used are recorded in your Skin Library.

A numbing cream may be applied, and many fillers also contain a local anaesthetic. The doctor injects with a fine needle or a blunt cannula depending on the area. Most people describe pressure and mild discomfort rather than pain.

Downtime, results and how long they last

Results are visible straight away, though some swelling is common for a few days and minor bruising is possible. On the day, avoid touching or pressing the treated area for 4–6 hours, and skip saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise.

HA filler typically lasts around 6–18 months , depending on the product, the area and how actively that part of the face moves. Results vary from person to person.

Often combined with

Volume is only one part of a youthful face. HA filler is often combined with Botox for movement-related lines, energy lifting for laxity, and collagen stimulators or skin boosters for skin quality.

Is it right for me?

Filler is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is active infection in the area. Previous filler, medical history and medications are reviewed first. If volume is not the real issue, we will say so and suggest a better-matched approach.

For international visitors

Because results are immediate and downtime is usually short, HA filler fits well into a short stay. Allow a few days for swelling to settle before photos or events. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.

Questions worth asking at consultation

A good filler plan starts with understanding why an area looks the way it does. Bringing an older photo of yourself can help the doctor see where volume has changed. Useful questions include:

  • Which areas have lost support, and in what order should they be treated?
  • Is volume loss really the cause, or would lifting or skin treatments help more?
  • Which type of HA gel suits each area, and why?
  • When would a top-up or review be sensible?

Questions about HA filler

  • Will filler make my face look puffy?

Puffiness usually comes from too much product placed too close to the surface. Our doctors restore support near the bone first, which often means less product is needed and the result looks more natural.

  • How long does HA filler last?

Typically around 6–18 months, depending on the product, the area treated and how much that area moves. The doctor will explain what to expect for each area in your plan.

  • What is the difference between HA and CaHA filler?

HA is a hydrating gel that adds volume and can be used in many areas. CaHA is firmer, typically lasts around 12–18 months and also stimulates collagen, so it is often used for deeper structural support.

  • Is there downtime?

Results are visible immediately, with some swelling for a few days and possible minor bruising. Avoid touching the area for 4–6 hours and skip saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise on the day.
