Scalp care in Seoul

Our dedicated Scalp Clinic on the 3rd floor offers doctor-led care for hair thinning and scalp problems. Every plan begins with an assessment of your scalp and hair.

What scalp care at Obliv is

The scalp is skin too — and like facial skin, it can become oily, dry, flaky, irritated or sensitive. Its condition also affects the environment in which hair grows. Obliv Clinic Seoul Origin has a dedicated Scalp Clinic on the 3rd floor of Pagoda Tower, separate from the Skin & Body Clinic on the floors below, so scalp and hair concerns get focused attention.

Scalp care here is doctor-led. Rather than offering a fixed menu of treatments, a doctor assesses your scalp and hair first and recommends a plan suited to what they find. Specific treatments and products are explained at consultation.

Common reasons people visit

  • Hair thinning — a wider parting, less volume or more hair in the brush
  • Oily scalp that feels heavy or needs washing very often
  • Dry, tight or flaky scalp
  • Itching, redness or sensitivity
  • Wanting a healthier scalp environment as part of a wider self-care routine

See also scalp problems for more detail on these concerns.

A doctor assesses first

Hair thinning and scalp symptoms have many possible causes, including genetics, hormones, stress, nutrition, recent illness, certain medicines and skin conditions. Some need medical investigation rather than cosmetic care. That is why the first step is always an assessment by a doctor, who looks at your scalp, your hair pattern and your history. If the doctor feels you need further medical tests or evaluation, they will tell you clearly rather than starting treatment that may not address the real cause.

How we approach the scalp

The thinking is the same as in our skin clinic: understand what is happening before choosing a treatment, and look after the barrier. A scalp that is inflamed, over-stripped by harsh shampoos or clogged with oil is a less supportive environment for hair. Plans therefore often focus on:

  • Balance — managing oil and dryness so the scalp is neither stripped nor congested
  • Calm — reducing irritation and sensitivity
  • Support — in-clinic care chosen by the doctor to support the scalp and hair
  • Home routine — practical guidance on washing, products and habits

What to expect

At your first visit, you meet the doctor for an assessment and discussion of your concerns and goals. If in-clinic care is suitable, it may begin the same day. Hair grows slowly, so changes in thinning tend to be gradual and are assessed over months rather than weeks. Scalp comfort — less oiliness, itching or flaking — may improve sooner. Results vary from person to person, and scalp care can help improve the scalp environment rather than guarantee regrowth.

Looking after your scalp at home

  • Use a gentle shampoo suited to your scalp type and rinse thoroughly
  • Avoid very hot water and vigorous scratching
  • Protect your scalp from strong sun, especially along the parting
  • Mention any new medicines, illness or major stress to your doctor

For international visitors

The Scalp Clinic is open Monday to Friday 10:00–21:00 and Saturday to Sunday 10:00–19:00, so it is easy to fit a visit around sightseeing. You can combine scalp care with skin treatments in the same building. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and a short description of your concern, and ask for a personalised quote.

Preparing for your scalp consultation

A little information goes a long way in a scalp assessment, because the doctor is looking for patterns over time as well as what can be seen on the day. Before your visit, it can help to:

  • Note when you first noticed thinning or scalp symptoms, and whether they came on suddenly or gradually
  • List any medicines, supplements or recent illness, as these can affect hair and scalp
  • Bring the names of the shampoo and scalp products you use
  • Avoid heavy styling products on the day so the scalp can be seen clearly
  • Take a few photos of your parting or hairline if you have older ones for comparison

If you are visiting Seoul, you can share this information with the team on WhatsApp in advance. Many visitors book a dermatologist consultation for the skin on the same day, and our first visit guide explains how appointments at the clinic work.

Questions about scalp care

  • Can scalp care stop hair loss?

Scalp care can help improve the scalp environment, but hair thinning has many causes and no result can be guaranteed. A doctor assesses you first and explains what is realistic for your situation.

  • Do I need an assessment before treatment?

Yes. Hair thinning and scalp symptoms can have medical causes, so a doctor looks at your scalp and history first. If further medical evaluation is needed, the doctor will tell you.

  • How soon will I notice a difference?

Scalp comfort, such as less oiliness or itching, may improve sooner. Changes in hair density are gradual and are usually judged over months. Results vary from person to person.

  • Can I combine scalp care with skin treatments?

Yes. The Scalp Clinic is on the 3rd floor and the Skin & Body Clinic on the 1st and 2nd floors of the same building, so many visitors book both on the same day.
