Smooth skin texture in Seoul

Rough patches, bumps, visible pores and shallow scars all break up the surface of the skin. We work out how deep the unevenness goes, then choose the gentlest treatment that can reach it.

What smooth texture really means

Skin texture is how the surface looks and feels — under your fingertips and in the way light falls across your face. Smooth skin has a fine, regular surface. Uneven texture can show up as roughness and flaking, small bumps, enlarged pores, fine crepey lines, or the dips and edges of old acne scars. Makeup tends to sit on top of these rather than hiding them, which is often what prompts people to look for treatment.

Some texture is normal: skin is a living surface with pores and fine lines, and nobody's skin is perfectly flat under magnification. The realistic goal is a finer, more even surface that looks smoother in everyday light.

Which layers are involved

Using our 8-layer Skin Architecture model, texture problems can start at different depths:

  • Epidermis: dryness, a damaged barrier and a build-up of old cells cause roughness and dullness that sit right at the surface.
  • Upper dermis: loss of fine collagen and hydration causes crepey texture and makes pores look more open.
  • Deeper dermis: acne scars and other indented scars involve damage to collagen further down, and need treatments that reach that depth.

A director examines your skin, and Mark-Vu imaging analyses pores, wrinkles, pigment, redness and oil–moisture balance. Identifying the depth is the step that decides which device is appropriate.

Building a plan

Our Skin Renewal programme starts with the barrier and builds from there:

  • Barrier first. Ceramides and hyaluronic acid reinforce the barrier before main treatments, and we protect it afterwards. Surface roughness from dryness often improves noticeably with this step alone. See barrier care .
  • Hydration and fine texture. Mirajet delivers HA and brightening ingredients without needles and suits sensitive skin. Skin boosters can support hydration and regeneration in the upper dermis.
  • Pores and shallow scars. Potenza RF microneedling targets pores and acne scars with relatively short downtime.
  • Overall regeneration. U-Pulse fractional CO2 supports overall skin regeneration. For deep scars, CO2 laser resurfacing can be used, but it needs a recovery period.
  • Other epidermal options. NeoGen is a nitrogen-plasma skin regeneration device, and MCT and CUREJET are epidermal-layer treatments used for texture and scar care. Your doctor will explain whether they suit you.

For acne scars, a typical course is 3–5 sessions of Potenza or CO2, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Surface roughness usually needs much less.

Timeline before a trip or event

Skin renews about every 28 days, and collagen remodelling takes longer still, so texture work is planned over weeks to months. If you have an event, allow at least two to three months for a course, and avoid treatments with longer recovery — such as CO2 resurfacing — in the weeks just before. Gentle hydrating treatments can be done closer to the date. For visitors with a short stay, we can recommend options with little downtime and plan stronger treatments for a later trip.

Keeping your results

  • Use SPF50+ every day, and be especially careful after laser.
  • Choose gentle, pH-5.5-matched cleansing over scrubs and frequent peels, which can roughen the surface again.
  • Follow your prescribed home care to keep the barrier hydrated.
  • Plan occasional maintenance sessions if your doctor suggests them.

Results vary from person to person, and your Skin Library record helps us track progress between visits.

Aftercare in the first week after texture treatment

How you look after your skin in the first few days affects how smoothly it heals. General guidance after resurfacing or microneedling includes:

  • Days 1–2: expect some warmth, redness or tightness. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and apply the barrier cream you were given.
  • Days 3–5: light flaking or a sandpaper feel is common after some treatments. Let it shed naturally rather than picking or scrubbing.
  • Throughout the week: apply SPF50+ every morning and reapply when outdoors; skip saunas, exfoliating acids and retinoids until the doctor says your skin is ready.

Recovery is longer after CO2 than after Potenza, and the doctor will give you instructions specific to your treatment. If you are travelling soon after, read our guide to flying after laser . Results vary from person to person.

Questions about smooth skin texture

  • My skin feels rough but I have no scars. What helps?

Surface roughness often comes from a weakened barrier, dehydration or slow cell turnover. Barrier reinforcement, hydrating treatments such as Mirajet or skin boosters, and the right home care often help. A doctor will confirm what is behind it.

  • What is the difference between Potenza and CO2 laser?

Potenza combines microneedling with radiofrequency to target pores and acne scars with relatively short downtime. CO2 laser resurfaces the skin more strongly and is used for deeper scars, but it needs a recovery period. Your doctor will suggest which suits your skin and schedule.

  • How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the cause. Mild roughness may improve within a few sessions, while acne scars typically need 3–5 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Results vary from person to person.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost depends on the treatments and number of sessions in your plan. Ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.
