Temple filler in Seoul

Hollow temples can make the face look thinner, older or more tired than you feel. Temple filler softens the dip at the sides of the forehead, smoothing the outline of the upper face.

What temple filler is

The temples are the areas at the sides of the forehead, between the outer end of the eyebrow and the hairline. In youth they are gently full, so the outline of the face flows smoothly from forehead to cheekbone. With age, weight loss or intense exercise, volume here can decrease, leaving a visible dip. The bony edges around the eye socket then become more noticeable, and the face can look narrower at the top and more drawn.

Temple filler uses an injectable gel, usually hyaluronic acid (HA) , to restore that soft curve. Because the temples are often overlooked, treating them can make a surprisingly large difference to how fresh and balanced the whole face looks.

Which layers are involved

Facial ageing happens from the inside out. Bone gradually changes shape, deep fat compartments shrink and the support tissues loosen. In the temple, this shows as hollowing between the layers of muscle and fascia that cover the side of the skull.

In our 8-layer Skin Architecture model — epidermis, upper dermis, full-thickness dermis, lower dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and bone — temple filler is placed with careful attention to depth. Depending on your anatomy, the doctor may place product deep, close to the bone , for structural support, or more superficially within the fat layer for smooth contour. This follows Obliv's dual-plane principle: foundation first, refinement second.

Who it suits

  • Visible hollows or dips at the sides of the forehead
  • A face that looks narrow or "pinched" at the top
  • People who have lost facial volume through weight loss or regular endurance exercise
  • Those wanting a smoother upper-face outline as part of a full-face plan

If hollowing extends to the cheeks or under the eyes, the doctor may suggest combining temple filler with cheek filler or under-eye filler for balance. Where skin quality is also a concern, a collagen stimulator such as PLLA may be added.

What happens on the day

A director sees you from the first consultation. The temple area contains important blood vessels, so the doctor maps the anatomy carefully before choosing the depth, technique and product. Your plan is saved in your Skin Library.

After cleansing and numbing, filler is placed with a fine needle or blunt cannula. Many people feel pressure and hear a slight sound as the product is placed near the bone — this is normal. The doctor checks symmetry throughout.

Downtime, results and how long they last

Results are visible straight away. Mild swelling, tenderness when chewing and occasional bruising can occur for a few days. On the day, avoid touching or pressing the area for 4–6 hours, and skip saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise.

HA filler typically lasts around 6–18 months, depending on the product and the individual. Results vary from person to person.

Often combined with

Temple filler is often part of a wider plan with cheek filler for midface support, forehead filler for upper-face contour, and Botox for movement-related lines. The doctor will explain the order.

Is it right for me?

Temple filler is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is infection in the area. Medical history and any previous fillers are reviewed first. If hollowing is minimal, the doctor may suggest focusing on other areas instead.

Questions worth asking at consultation

Temple hollowing is often overlooked, so many people only notice it once it is pointed out. Looking at yourself in side lighting, or at photos taken from a slight angle, can help you see the outline of the upper face. Useful questions include:

  • How much of my tired look comes from the temples rather than the eyes or cheeks?
  • Which depth is safest and most suitable for my anatomy?
  • Should the cheeks or forehead be treated at the same time for balance?
  • How will the result change as the filler is gradually absorbed?

Questions about temple filler

  • Why do temples become hollow?

Volume in the temples decreases as bone and deep fat change with age, and also with weight loss or regular endurance exercise. The resulting dip can make the face look narrower and more tired.

  • Is temple filler painful?

Numbing is used, and most people feel pressure rather than sharp pain. Some notice tenderness when chewing for a few days afterwards, which settles on its own.

  • How long does temple filler last?

HA filler in the temples typically lasts around 6–18 months, depending on the product and the individual. The doctor will explain what to expect for you.

  • Can I combine it with cheek filler?

Yes, and many people do. The temples and cheeks together shape the outline of the face, so treating both can give a more balanced result.
