A guide for men visiting Obliv

More men are booking skin and contour treatments while in Seoul. This guide explains the concerns we see most often, how a plan is built for male skin and how to fit it into a business trip or holiday.

Why men's treatment plans differ

Male skin tends to be thicker and oilier, facial muscles such as the masseter are often stronger, and many men want results that look natural rather than “done”. The goal is usually a fresher, sharper, more rested face — not a different one. That makes careful planning more important, not less.

At Obliv a director sees you from the first consultation. Using our 8-layer Skin Architecture model, the doctor works out which layer a concern starts in — from the epidermis and dermis down to fat, fascia, muscle and bone — and decides the depth before choosing a device. Mark-Vu skin analysis can help map pores, pigment, wrinkles, redness and oil–moisture balance.

Common concerns we see in men

A square or heavy jaw

A strong masseter muscle can make the lower face look wide. Jawline Botox relaxes the muscle for a slimmer contour. It begins to work in about 3–7 days, peaks at around two weeks and usually lasts around 4–6 months.

Sagging and a softer jawline

When the jawline blurs with age, energy lifting can help. HIFU devices such as Ultherapy PRIME focus ultrasound at depth, while RF devices such as Thermage heat the dermis evenly for tightening. A pulling sensation is common straight after; changes are often noticeable in 1–3 months, with the final result at 3–6 months.

Fullness under the chin

Onda uses microwave energy to selectively heat fat under the chin and below the cheeks, and may help define the neck–jaw line.

Enlarged pores, oil and acne scars

These are very common in men. Potenza RF microneedling targets pores and acne scars with short downtime, while a CO2 laser resurfaces deeper scars but needs more recovery. Acne scars typically need 3–5 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart, so a visitor may start in Seoul and continue on later trips.

Forehead lines and frown lines

Expression lines often respond to Botox , with doses adjusted so the face still looks natural and expressive.

Thinning hair and scalp concerns

Our Scalp Clinic on the third floor offers doctor-led assessment. A doctor examines the scalp first before suggesting any care.

Fitting treatment into a work trip

  • Evening slots: the skin, body and scalp clinics are open until 21:00 on weekdays, and 10:00–19:00 at weekends.
  • Low-downtime options: Botox, many energy-lifting sessions and skin boosters usually let you return to meetings quickly. On the day of injectables, avoid touching the area for 4–6 hours and skip the sauna, alcohol and strenuous exercise — worth knowing before a business dinner.
  • Higher-downtime options: resurfacing lasers need recovery time and strict sun protection (SPF50+), so plan them for the start of a holiday rather than before a presentation.

Before you book

Message us on WhatsApp in English with your travel dates, what bothers you most and, if you like, a few clear daylight photos. We will suggest a consultation time and, for costs, ask us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote. The doctor will confirm suitability at consultation and may suggest a different option, or no treatment, if that is better for you. Results vary from person to person.

Practical details

The clinic is in Pagoda Tower, 93 Cheonggyecheon-ro, about 5 minutes on foot from Jonggak and Euljiro 1-ga stations and a short walk from Myeongdong. Couples are welcome to come together — see Visiting With Friends .

Simple habits that help results last

Many men have a minimal skincare routine, and that is fine — a few consistent steps make a real difference after treatment.

  • Daily sunscreen. SPF50+ after laser is essential, and daily sun protection helps protect collagen over the long term.
  • Gentle cleansing. Harsh, stripping cleansers can weaken the barrier, especially on oily skin that is being over-washed.
  • Use your prescribed home care. We prescribe pH-5.5-matched products so you do not have to guess what suits your skin.
  • Shaving after treatment. Ask the doctor when it is fine to shave over treated areas, and use a clean, sharp razor to reduce irritation.
  • Plan maintenance. Botox usually lasts around 4–6 months and energy lifting longer, so many men time repeat visits around regular trips.

Questions men often ask

  • Will treatment make me look feminine or overdone?

Plans for men are designed to keep masculine features such as a defined jaw and natural expression. The doctor adjusts depth, dose and placement to your face and will explain the aim before anything is done.

  • Can I go back to work the next day?

After many low-downtime treatments, such as Botox or energy lifting, most people return to normal activities quickly. Resurfacing lasers need more recovery, so ask the doctor about your specific plan.

  • Is jawline Botox permanent?

No. It usually lasts around 4–6 months, after which the muscle gradually regains strength. Many people choose to repeat it.

  • Do men need different skincare after treatment?

The principles are the same: protect the barrier, use SPF50+ after laser and follow the pH-balanced home care we prescribe. We tailor products to oilier skin where needed.
